ONIX for ISBN 

As part of the revision of the ISBN standard (ISO 2108), it was agreed that the information provided by publishers to their local ISBN agencies would  include some minimum descriptive information of the book that this data would be compatible with ONIX .

This draft outline specification defines an ONIX for Books ISBN registration format, intended to enable a publisher to communicate to an ISBN Agency a list of ISBNs that it has assigned to new titles, together with the minimum metadata defined in the ISBN standard.

Software for creating and editing ISBN registration messages will be available from the International ISBN Agency and an XML schema will be available shortly on this site.
