ONIX for Serials

Code lists Issue 3

20 December 2010

Layout of code lists

This document contains ONIX for Serials code lists Issue 3, arranged in a single table for reference and printing.

Code lists are now being revised more frequently. In order to reduce the effort required to maintain the documentation, this document is available in HTML rather than as previously in PDF. For details of which code list to use with which data element in each version of ONIX, please consult the main Format Specification.

The complete set of code list entries is also available in comma-separated and XML formats.

Code list headers

These are laid out with four columns:

  1. Code list number
  2. List name
  3. Guidance on which Serials messages the code list applies to
  4. The number of the code list Issue in which the list was added. Zero for all lists which were added before Issue 1, 3 for the latest additions.

Code list entries

These are laid out in five columns:

  1. Code value
  2. Code description
  3. Notes on the meaning and usage of the code value
  4. The number of the code list Issue in which the value was added or the description and notes were last revised. Zero for all lists which were added before Issue 1, except where there has been a change in status in a later Issue.
  5. Guidance on the subsets the codes are included within

Color coding
