ONIX: Essentials training course

In this intensive all-day ONIX training session, Graham Bell of EDItEUR introduces the ONIX standard and the essentials of creating, managing and disseminating book metadata. The course gives you all the vital information to understand the basics of ONIX and how it is used in the book industry, and it mixes the background and theory of metadata with real-world practice and guidance in an approachable but authoritative way.

The course is suitable for beginners and assumes no prior knowledge of ONIX, but it is not simply a ‘beginner’s introduction’ – it covers all the essentials of ONIX in depth, and is also valuable for those who have been using ONIX for some time. It is aimed at staff with management responsibility for metadata, either in editorial, IT, marketing, or production within a publisher, or in similar roles within distribution and retailing. It is not highly technical, but software developers seeking to understand ONIX would benefit from this course by gaining specialist domain knowledge and an understanding of best practice.
