Digital Publishing Forum: Digital Developments in Licensing

Chaired by Mark Bide, Chairman of the Publishers Licensing Society and Executive Director of EDItEUR, this event will review current licensing practises and the digital developments that will potentially make them more efficient and profitable.

It will feature a talk on current licensing practices and some of the day-to-day challenges that arise from them, from a publisher’s perspective. Also speaking will be Tom West and Jonathan Griffin, PLS, on the work undertaken by PLS, particularly the development of a digital permissions service for publishers and researchers, and Godfrey Rust, Rightscom. Godfrey will give an overview of progress with the ground-breaking Copyright Hub, an online portal for copyright information and permission requests, and will emphasise the importance of standard identification and metadata from the perspective of the Linked Content Coalition project.
